North Cambridge Pantry is Closing Temporarily

It's with heavy hearts that we announce the temporary closing of our North Cambridge food pantry, with December 11th, 2024 as our last pantry service day. We'll skip to the good news first: thanks to the generosity of Cambridge Housing Authority, in about two years, we'll have a beautiful permanent space in the Jefferson Park housing development. The new space will have an even larger full-choice food pantry and more storage space and will allow for more indoor seating for patrons.

We have been in a temporary space at 266 Rindge Ave since the pantry opened in the fall of 2021. First, we were at 266B Rindge Ave, a former doctors clinic. In late 2022, we moved next door to 266A Rindge Ave, which had previously been a dry cleaner. We are so grateful to Cambridge Housing Authority for letting us set up two temporary spaces in their housing development, and for creating a permanent space for us in their renovated development.

We know North Cambridge is an area of high need and not many emergency food resources. We are working internally to brainstorm how we can provide support to these residents without a physical space in the area. Additionally, starting in January, our Central Square food pantry will focus on serving just Cambridge residents, in anticipation of the greater need.
