CEOC’s Summer 2024 Outreach!

Updated: Sep 25

Summer at CEOC is always a time for community connection. This summer, we’ve been deeply embedded in the heart of our community, participating in a variety of local events and engaging directly with residents. Our outreach efforts have been focused on connecting with community members where they are—whether at neighborhood gatherings, festivals, or community fairs. These interactions have not only allowed us to share valuable resources and information but have also strengthened our bonds with the people we serve. In this blog post, we’re excited to share the highlights of our summer outreach, including the events we’ve attended and some memorable moments captured in photos.

  • Cambridge Community Learning Center: on several dates in May and June, we tabled in the student lounge at the CLC during student confreences, where we shared CEOC’s resources with CLC students.

  • Central Square Farmers Market: in July and August, we hosted a table at the Central Square Farmers Market. We loved being in the center of all the action, surrounded by incredible local food and other community partners. Many of the people who stopped by our table didn’t know about our work, so we were excited to share with new community members!

  • Just A Start Family Fun Day BBQ: We met Just A Start residents in Squirrel Brand Park in July at their summer BBQ, with food, music, entertainment, and community partner tables.

  • Fresh Pond Apartment Summer Party: We make it a priority to be at this annual event every year! Over 700 residents of the Fresh Pond Apartments came out to the annual summer party, and we said hello to so many familiar faces.

  • Neighbor to Neighbor: HRI sure knows how to throw a party! We were so happy to see new and familiar faces, and so many community partners, and we loved being able to celebrate the scholarship winners who were honored at the event.

  • HRI Columbia Terrace Back to School Event: We stopped by the Columbia Terrace apartments to share our resources with residents as they prepare to go back to school.

  • King Open/CSUS Cambridge Public School/Mayor Simmons’ Community Fair: It was maybe the busiest CPS back to school fair we’ve ever been to! So many families stopped by our table that all of our flyers in every language ran out – we love being able to share our resources with so many people.

Coming up, we’ll be at the Peabody School/RAUC Community School Fair on September 7th, the Washington Elms/Newtowne Court Block Party on September 7th, come see us!
